He made history, but can he make a friend?
It’s 1967. Francis Biddle is 81-years-old. His health may be failing, but he is still feisty and full of fascinating stories about his family history, his life and his work as Attorney General under Roosevelt and Chief Judge at the Nuremberg Trials. Biddle’s wife has hired yet another secretary to help him put his affairs in order – Sarah Schorr, a determined young 25-year-old from the Canadian plains. Can the two forge a friendship? Based on a true story, Trying is a beautiful and poetic story about how two strangers, at two dramatically different places in their lives, can unexpectedly and forever influence each other. Actor Robin Gammell, whose illustrious career includes work at the N.Y. Shakespeare Festival, the Stratford Festival, Long Wharf and the Guthrie (where his Arturo Ui is legendary), plays Biddle opposite his daughter Winslow Corbett (National Tour of The Graduate, Lincoln Center, South Coast Rep). Artistic Associate Jenny Sullivan directs.
