$15 per student. For every 10 students, 1 free teacher or
chaperon ticket is provided.
We are thrilled to offer student matinee performances of Rubicon Theatre Mainstage productions. These are presented at Rubicon’s home, The Karyn Jackson Theatre, an intimate 185-seat venue at 1006 E. Main Street (the corner of Main and Laurel in Ventura. All student matinees will be followed by talkback sessions, offering students the opportunity to engage directly with the cast and creative team, allowing them to ask questions about the production process and its themes. Additionally, we will provide personalized study guides to help students understand key themes, plot elements, character analysis, and historical contexts, facilitating meaningful classroom discussions.

Crazy Mama
A World Premiere Drama by Sharon Scott William
Set in the rural South, this powerful true story chronicles a young girl’s quest to reconnect with her mother, who is lost to mental illness. It offers a deeply moving exploration of love, resilience, and the pursuit of familial bonds. Themes include parent-child relationships, mental health, dealing with mental illness in a family, how to access social services, etc. Thanks to a grant from the Biller Family Foundation, mental health professionals will be a part of the talkback. Recommended for students studying science, health, American government, and drama.
