Know Before You Go
Things to Know
Here are some things to know before coming to the theatre this season.
Hotels and Restaurants
You will find an abundance of charming hotels and restaurants in the Downtown and Midtown areas, and wonderful attractions to enhance your visit to Rubicon. If you are coing from out-of-town, here is a link to the Ventura Visitor’s Bureau for further details: https://visitventuraca.com/events/
Parking
Street parking is available for free, usually within a two-block radius of the theatre. We recommend coming a little early to find a parking place and get settled before the show begins. Rubicon is located in a friendly Midtown area of older homes and apartments, many without garages or lots. Please be respectful of the neighbors and park only in public and available spaces.
Performance Times (unless otherwise specified)
- Matinee performances begin at 2:00 p.m. with lobby doors opening at 1:30 pm
- Evening performance begin at 7:00 p.m. with lobby doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
- Student Matinee performances begin at 10:00 a.m. with lobby doors opening at 9:30 a.m.
Beverage and Concession Service
Alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, and sometimes themed specialty drinks tied to the shows), as well as a variety of non-alcoholic beverages (sodas, juices, teas and coffee), are available for purchase in the lobby and downstairs pre-show and at intermission in The Rose Room.
Wheelchair Access
For patrons using wheelchairs, we have a ramp available in the front of the building which provides access to the auditorium. We have specific wheelchair and wheelchair companion seats available and request that you notify Guest Services of specific needs at the time of your order. We regret that currently we do not have accessible restrooms. If you would like to make a capital contribution to help address this concern, please contact Karyl Lynn Burns at 805.667.2912, ext. 224 or [email protected]
Assistive Listening Devices Available
Rubicon Theatre is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive experience for all patrons.
Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) are available free of charge for all performances on a first-come, first-served basis.
These devices amplify and clarify sound to help guests better enjoy performances.Patrons may check out a receiver and headset from the Box Office or House Management prior to the performance.
A valid photo ID may be required. We recommend arriving early to allow time for device check-out.
If you have questions about accessibility services or would like assistance in advance of your visit, please contact the Box Office.
