An Invitation from
Host Committee Chairs

Help Celebrate a First-Time Collaboration between
The Acting Company of New York and Southern California’s Rubicon Theatre Company

In these tenuous times for the arts, Rubicon is honored to partner with the highly esteemed, Tony honored Acting Company from New York to share resources and jointly raise funds for public presentations in Ventura of August Wilson’s Two Trains Running – a powerful and important drama set in Pittsburgh during the Civil Rights Movement; and the Play On adaptation of Shakespeare’s hilarious The Comedy of Errors, performed in rep by the same nine-person African-American cast.

The productions will be accompanied by high-impact education outreach programs (student matinees at the theatre and in-school assemblies and workshops) run by Rubicon’s new Education and Outreach Director Ray Cuevas. These include in-school workshops and assemblies and student matinees at the theatre.

According to Rubicon Board President Doug Halter, “This is a new and innovative approach to addressing the financial challenges that continue to affect regional theatres throughout the country.”

Former California State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson adds, “By working together, both organizations are able to share resources and maintain their commitment to excellence and fulfill their respective missions within their communities. I find this a forward-thinking and exciting collaboration.”

Join our Host Chairs, Entertainment Industry Committee, and Business and Civic Committee at one of two events the first week in January as a lead-up to the Ventura run and launch of The Acting Company’s tour at Rubicon.

We hope you and a guest will join us at one of these two special receptions, where you will have an opportunity to meet some of the artists involved, see designs for the shows, and learn about opportunities to make a contribution and help spread the word.
