Where Stories Unite Us and Art and Community Meet
As we reach the close of another remarkable year at Rubicon Theatre Company, we find ourselves reflecting on the moments that change us — quietly or profoundly, unexpectedly or with great fanfare. In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens writes, “That was a memorable day to me, for it made great changes in me.” As we continue our Crossroads Season, those words feel especially true.
Rubicon is in the midst of a hopeful transformation — artistically and organizationally. This year we expanded our programming, supported hundreds of artists, served young people through education programs, and welcomed more than 25,000 audience members into our 185-seat theatre.
We are also entering a planned transition of leadership, with Co-Founder Karyl Lynn Burns and incoming Producing Artistic Director J. Scott Lapp working side-by-side to ensure continuity, stability, and a strong artistic vision for Rubicon’s future.
As we begin our 27th year and our December “Winterfest” of 26 performances, we invite you to help shape Rubicon’s next chapter.
Your year-end gift — whether $50, $500, or $5,000 — will:
- Support the artists and artisans who bring our productions to life
- Expand opportunities for students and emerging theatre-makers
- Secure Rubicon’s stability during this important transition
- Ensure that transformative theatre continues to thrive in Ventura
Thank you for being part of Rubicon’s story and for helping us move into the new year with hope and Great Expectations.
