Rubicon’s first daughter Lauren Patten is an artist known for her powerhouse performances on stage and screen. She brought her authentic rock sound to Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know” in the hit Broadway musical Jagged Little Pill and scored Tony and Grammy Awards for her work. Her Rubicon credits include the title role in The Diary of Anne Frank, Chava in Fiddler on the Roof, Elma in Bus Stop, Emily in Our Town, and many others (including co-writer on Women Beyond Borders). For this concert, Lauren brings her searing vocal power to the rock, soul, Broadway, and pop songs that she believes belong in a more expansive view of the “American Songbook.” Lauren will share the songs she grew up on, the artists who inspire her, and the hits from a myriad of styles that have made an indelible mark on American culture.
More About Lauren:
Lauren Patten is an acclaimed actor and singer known for her powerhouse performances on stage and screen. She was the breakout star of Jagged Little Pill, the hit Broadway show with music by Alanis Morissette. Her rendition of “You Oughta Know” earned her a mid-show standing ovation, and she won Tony and Grammy Awards for her performance. She made her Broadway debut in the Tony-winning musical Fun Home, and most recently starred off-Broadway in the original rock musical The Lonely Few (MCC). Other theatre credits include the Off-Broadway productions of The Wolves and Days of Rage, and the original Deaf West production of Spring Awakening in Los Angeles. At age 14, Lauren moved to L.A. after she was cast in the Rubicon Theatre’s acclaimed production of A Diary of Anne Frank as the title character, working with Alison Brie, Linda Purl and Bruce Weitz. Lauren participated in many productions at the Rubicon, and was nominated for a 2008 Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her portrayal of Elma in Bus Stop, and won a Santa Barbara Independent Award for her performance as Emily in Rubicon’s Our Town.
On television, Lauren is known for her work as Rachel Witten on “Blue Bloods” (CBS). She most recently starred in the Hulu murder mystery “Death and Other Details” opposite Mandy Patinkin and Violett Beane, and she is also featured on “Succession” (HBO) and “The Good Fight” (Paramount+).
As a musician, Lauren has performed at a variety of iconic New York venues, including Sony Hall, Tavern on the Green, Mercury Lounge, and Rockwood Music Hall. She has also held concerts at A.C.T. of CT, Ridgefield Playhouse, and the Gogue Performing Arts Center at Auburn University. Her EP covers, featuring innovative arrangements of rock, blues, and pop classics, is available on all streaming platforms.
