Glamour & Jazz: Nightclub Legends
Linda Purl with Music Director Tedd Firth at the Piano
A ONE-NIGHT-ONLY A Special Benefit for Rubicon Theatre Company
Straight from London’s Crazy Coqs, New York’s 54 Below and Tokyo’s Swing Hall, Linda Purl brings Glamour & Jazz: Nightclub Legends to Rubicon for one special evening.
Saluting the great women singing stars of the 1940s and ’50s, from Ella Fitzgerald and Anita O’Day to Rosemary Clooney, Linda conjures the glamorous supper-club era when the surroundings were posh, the drinks kept flowing, and nobody went to bed before three.
From sultry ballads to hot Latin jazz arrangements of Broadway favorites, the evening features reimagined classics, sophisticated swing, and songs made famous by some of the era’s most unforgettable voices.
Linda is joined by acclaimed New York musical director, pianist and arranger Tedd Firth, one of the city’s most sought-after musical collaborators. Together, Linda and Tedd have performed at celebrated venues including Birdland, 54 Below, Dizzy’s Club and Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Known to television audiences for memorable roles on “Happy Days,” “Matlock,” “The Office,” “Hacks,” and more than 45 television movies, Linda’s extensive stage career includes Broadway, Off-Broadway, cabaret and performances around the world.
At the piano, Tedd Firth’s career has included performances with Bernadette Peters, Michael Feinstein, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Christine Ebersole, Marilyn Maye, and many others, with appearances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Birdland, and other legendary venues.
