The year is 1934, Einstein has fled Nazi Germany and settled in Princeton, New Jersey with his family and secretary. It is Einstein’s birthday. and reporters have gathered at his home to interview him. Einstein is late and Ellen must placate the restless reporters until he arrives. He never does. In this touching and hilarious portrait of this fierce Einstein “loyalist”, we are treated to a rare and humanizing look into the great scientists’ daily life and thinking. Like they say, the secretary protects and knows the boss more than anyone else ever does…
In addition, she tries to explain his Theory of Relativity, the Theory of Simultaneity, the concept that Light is Matter and other scientific thoughts of the time that she knows nothing about, making for a very humorous evening. This is a science story, a woman’s story, a love story, and a history story, all rolled into one.
